A New RNC Detachment for Conception Bay South
Today, Justice and Public Safety Minister Andrew Parsons was joined by Joe Boland, Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), and representatives from the Town of Conception Bay South to announce a new RNC detachment in the community.
About the New Detachment
The old Conception Bay South Town Hall, located at 106 Conception Bay Highway, will be renovated to accommodate a new police detachment, which will include an inspector, administrative staff, community services, a criminal investigation division, operational patrol services, a police service dog unit, a telephone reporting centre, and traffic services.
Justice and Public SafetyMinister Parsons says Government has heard the concerns of residents of the second largest municipality in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This new detachment will ensure timely police response and will better serve the growing population in that area,” says Minister Parsons. “The RNC plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of residents and public trust and community cooperation are crucial in effective law enforcement.
Royal Newfoundland ConstabularyChief Boland says expanding operations in Conception Bay South will allow the RNC to enhance police services in that entire region in a way that aligns with the RNC’s objectives to improve the health and safety of communities through partnerships and stronger community relationships.
Positioning ourselves in the heart of CBS will make us more be approachable, accessible and of service to everyone,” says Chief Boland. “This expansion represents a milestone for the RNC that will better serve the residents of CBS as well as better support our West District Operations in Paradise and Mount Pearl.
