Brian Dicks, Humber – Bay of Islands
Brian grew up in the Corner Brook, Bay of Islands area. After finishing high school, he went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary’s University. Twenty years later, he achieved a Certified Financial Planner designation through the Financial Planners Standards Council. He worked in a senior management position with the Coleman Group of Companies for twenty years and then created his own financial services company, Corporate Financial Planners Inc. With a background in management and finance, Brian also provides contract consulting services and has been engaged in business development.
In 2015 and again in 2018, Brian was elected to Qalipu Band Council where he has been very active on behalf of Band members. He has served on the Cultural Foundation, Finance Committee, led the creation of Qalipu Development Corporation, and has Chaired the Mi’kmaq Commercial Fisheries file. He sits on several local, provincial and federal committees and Boards including the federal DFO Atlantic Mackerel Advisory Committee, Atlantic Seal Advisory Committee and the Redfish Advisory Committee. He also sits on the Boards of the Corner Brook Port Corporation and the NL – Fish Harvesters Safety Association.
Brian is also a musician, licenced fishing guide and avid outdoor enthusiast. He finds it rewarding to contribute to his community and happily helps where he can to support local benefits, fundraisers and community events. Brian loves our province, especially the west coast of the Island, and is eager to contribute to its growth and prosperity
