Betty Parsley

Harbour Main

Betty Parsley is a lifelong resident of Harbour Main. Upon graduating high school, Betty continued her education in travel and tourism and went on to have a successful career as a travel consultant for over twenty years.

A long-time supporter of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, Betty has held positions on the party executive for the district of Harbour Main. Betty most recently served as the mayor of Harbour Main-Chapel’s Cove-Lakeview. Her involvement in municipal politics began in 2007 when she was elected as a town councillor. She has been involved in numerous infrastructure projects in the municipality including water and sewer services, and recreation initiatives.

In 2015, she was elected to represent the District of Harbour Main in the House of Assembly. She serves as a member of the Government Services Committee, the Miscellaneous and Private Bills Committee, and the Social Services Committee.

In addition to politics, Betty has also been involved in a number of community groups and charities. In the 1990s she was involved in a humanitarian effort to bring children from Chernobyl, Ukraine, to Newfoundland and Labrador. She has a son and a daughter, and one grandson.
