Openness and Transparency
Dwight Ball and the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador (LPNL) are firmly committed to openness and transparency. For 13 years, the PCs operated under a shroud of secrecy, pushing through numerous pieces of regressive legislation designed to make it harder to access information about its governance. The LPNL demonstrated, by contrast, its commitment to being accountable and transparent to the people of the province by hosting the most inclusive and open leadership selection in Newfoundland and Labrador history. The party has further demonstrated this by soliciting meaningful, continued feedback from voters across the province—feedback that directly informed LPNL policy heading into the 2015 general election. Our government holds openness and transparency foremost among its values as Newfoundland and Labrador enters a critical era in its history.
Government is a vast and complex network of departments and services that is responsible for maintaining the health and wellbeing of every person in the province. Over the last 13 years, countless examples of mismanagement have surfaced, highlighting the need for unwavering commitment to best practices in management. The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes that Government has the privilege of serving as employees of the people. Our government is guided by a ceaseless commitment to strong and effective management, ensuring that all departments and services operate based on the principles of strong management.
A Team of Leaders
Just as the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador’s policy is guided by extensive feedback from Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, leadership decisions are based on extensive consultation with all government members. The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador believes in the value of collaboration, partnership, and teamwork, and believes that a strong team is a strong government.
