Lisa Dempster, Opposition Critic for Health and Community Services, is welcoming the official opening of the new Urgent Care Centre on January 12, 2026. Urgent Care Centres were an initiative of the former Liberal Government, introduced as an innovative solution, guided by Health Accord NL, to address challenges within the health care system.
“It is great to see this new Urgent Care Centre opening in St. John’s next week. We are pleased that the Conservatives are continuing with the plan laid out by our Liberal Government and the Health Accord. It confirms that they too believe we were on the right track to transforming our health care system.”
As Newfoundlanders and Labradorians prepare to use this new facility next week, the Official Opposition encourages the government to conduct a public education campaign to avoid confusion and ensure residents clearly understand when to seek care at the emergency department versus the new Urgent Care Centre.
