Message from the President

Dear fellow Liberals of Newfoundland and Labrador,

It is my pleasure to issue the formal call for our Biennial General Meeting (BGM) & Convention, which will take place virtually on February 21st. Hosting this year’s Convention online will allow us to engage as many Liberals as possible from every corner of our province – ensuring broad participation, strong dialogue, and truly grassroots input as we shape our path forward.

This call comes later than usual, following an exceptional year marked by both our 2025 Leadership Election and the 2025 Provincial General Election. These significant democratic processes demanded our full attention, and I want to once again thank all members, volunteers, and candidates for their remarkable dedication during such an important period for our Party and our Province.

The results of the 2025 election were incredibly close, a powerful reminder of the strength of our movement and the competitiveness of Liberal values in Newfoundland and Labrador. That near result provides motivation and momentum as we reorganize at the grassroots level – renewing our connections, strengthening our district associations, and preparing for the opportunities ahead.

As we look toward the reopening of the House of Assembly, we do so with purpose and confidence. We now form the Official Opposition, ready to offer real, material debate and strong, principled oversight on behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is an important role in our democracy, and one we will take on with energy, seriousness, and conviction.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to John Hogan, KC who has served as an excellent Premier during his time in office and now leads our Party as Leader of the Opposition. His commitment to public service, his accessibility, and his dedication to building a stronger Province continue to inspire Liberals across Newfoundland and Labrador.

To the past and current members of our Executive Board, thank you for your ongoing work and leadership. It has been a privilege to collaborate with such a committed team of volunteers who provide organizational, financial, and strategic guidance to our Party. Your dedication is deeply appreciated.

I look forward to joining you all virtually in February for meaningful discussion, renewal, and forward planning. Together, we will continue to strengthen our Liberal Party and advance a vision for a more prosperous, equitable Newfoundland and Labrador.
