Sherry is a graduate of the General Hospital School of Nursing. She also received a certificate in leadership from Memorial University and has completed many post-secondary courses.
Before entering politics she worked as the Executive Director for the Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Association for Community Living and as a Neonatal Nurse at the Charles A. Janeway.
She has worked and volunteered in community her entire life. Dedicating herself to social policy. In 2015 Sherry was elected as the Member of the House of Assembly for the district of Placentia – St. Mary’s. She has served as the Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, the Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, the Minister Responsible for the NL Housing Corporation, the Minister of Service NL, the Minister Responsible for Purchasing and Procurement and the Minister Responsible for Workplace NL. Sherry was re-elected in 2019 and 2021.She is presently the vice-chair of the Public Accounts committee for the House of Assembly and continues to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities.
