Gerry Byrne, Corner Brook
Gerry Byrne was born and raised in Corner Brook. Whether federally or provincially, his long distinguished career owes much to talent and dedication, traits that are apparent to the residents of the District of Corner Brook and beyond.
Gerry Byrne completed his post-secondary education at Dalhousie University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Gerry first became a Member of Parliament, in 1996, in the district of Humber – St. Barbe -Baie Verte. He would win re-election six times. In 2002, Byrne became one of the youngest cabinet ministers representing Newfoundland and Labrador when he became the Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
In 2015 Gerry chose provincial politics, inspired by a desire to serve his constituents at the provincial level, in the city that he loves.
