Lisa Dempster

Lisa Dempster has extensive experience in community service in Labrador. Born and raised in Charlottetown, Labrador, Lisa studied at Memorial University and has a background in tourism. She served for 23 years as a career and employment officer, helping unemployed residents of the region further their education with a view to securing employment.

Lisa has been heavily involved in community service and volunteerism. She has served as the deputy mayor of Charlottetown, the Labrador director on the Provincial Municipalities Board, a trustee for the Labrador Grenfell Health Board, a director of the district Waste Management Committee, a member of the Memorial University School of Medicine’s admissions board, and co-chair of the Literacy Committee.

Lisa has represented the district of Cartwright – L’anse au Clair in the House of Assembly since 2013. She initially served as the Caucus whip and the Opposition Critic for Advanced Education and Skills, Research and Development Corporation, and a number of other portfolios. Currently, she serves as Deputy Speaker and Chair of Committees.
